Start it Right (formerly known as Transitional Day Program)


 

 The "Start it Right" (SIR) Day Program is a transitional day program that takes a holistic approach in building essential life skills for people who have a developmental disability to live a health and active life. "Start it Right" has three streams focusing on healthy living, recreational activities and vocational training.  The program is open to people over the age of 21.

 

Stream 1: Healthy Living = Healthy Eating and Physical Activity

 

Healthy Eating:

Weekly nutrition lessons and healthy cooking.

 

Physical Activity: Weekly yoga classes, workout sessions, open gym and personal training sessions will take place in the community and in the gym at Compass Point Bible Church.

 

Stream 2: Recreation and Leisure

 

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in their community by participating in recreational and leisure activities such as going to parks, museums, the science centre, swimming, etc.

 

Stream 3: Vocational Training

 

Participants will have the opportunity to attend placements in the community to develop and build employability skills.

 

Monday to Friday: 8:30am- 3:30pm
